Taylor Swift and Adele are Grammy-winning singers. Anne Hathaway is an internationally-known, Oscar-winning movie actress. Who earns more? You might be surprised. Parade magazine's annual "What People Earn Report" reveals that movie stars may get more attention and more respect, but when it comes to making money, it's the pop stars who are laughing all the way to the bank.
According to Parade, Anne Hathaway's estimated yearly salary is a paltry ten million, while Adele rakes in an estimated $32 million a year. As for Taylor, she made an incredible $57 million. In fact, she's the third highest-paid woman in showbiz, after Oprah Winfrey and another pop star, Britney Spears.
Parade's list also shows that Justin Bieber earns more than Brad Pitt -- over $55 million for Justin, as compared with $35.5 million for Brad -- and Voice coach Blake Shelton makes more than Channing Tatum, $20 million to $15 million.
Why do singers make so much more than actors? Well, they have many more revenue streams. In addition to album sales and songwriting royalties, they also pull in the cash from touring and merchandise sales. Singers, especially female ones like Taylor, tend to have more endorsement deals than actors, as well.
One singer on Parade's list whose salary doesn't quite measure up right now is Carly Rae Jepsen, whose estimated paycheck is two million bucks. But hey, give her time: she's only been famous for a year.
