Salt Lake County recreation centers are back open

Salt Lake County recreation centers are back open with Covid 19 guidelines in place.

We are excited to be opening our doors again to several of our recreation facilities next week. In accordance with the State’s Utah Together plan and guidance from the Salt Lake County Health Department, the following recreation centers will reopen Monday, June 1st with modified operations: County Ice Center (Murray) Dimple Dell Recreation Center (Sandy) Fairmont Aquatic Center (Salt Lake City) JL Sorenson Recreation Center (Herriman) Magna Recreation Center (Magna) Millcreek Recreation Center (Millcreek City) Northwest Recreation Center (Salt Lake City) ***SLC Sports Complex (Salt Lake City) Taylorsville Recreation Center (Taylorsville) ***UPDATE: Due to recent events, the Salt Lake City Sports Complex will now open Tuesday, June 2nd. Amenities will be open by reservation. Yesterday several Salt Lake County recreation centers opened back up. Are you ready to go back to the rec center? They are being cautious and opening things slowly, so make sure you check your recenter website to see what is available before you head over to work out.

  1. Check to see what amenities are open before hand, it will change from day to day.
  2. Make a reservation, don’t just show up.
  3. Stay 6 fee apart from others
  4. Wear a mask when possible

  • County Ice Center in Murray
  • The Fairmont Aquatic Center in Sugarhouse
  • Dimple Dell Rec Center
  • Northwest Rec Center
  • JL Sorenson Rec Center in Herriman
  • Magna Fitness and Rec Center
  • Taylorsville Rec Center
  • Millcreek Rec Center

Swimming pools expected to open in July and they are doing more research to see about splash pads.

Modified Operations for Recreation Facilities

We are excited to be opening our doors again to several of our recreation facilities. In compliance with the current Salt Lake County Health Department order, select centers will begin operating with the following safety and social distancing guidelines to protect the health of patrons and employees.

  • Patrons and staff with a fever or respiratory symptoms must stay home.
  • Follow social distancing guidelines at all times.
  • Face coverings are strongly encouraged.
  • Please be patient and courteous to other patrons and staff.

Reservations

  • Amenities are limited at this time.
  • Activities are available by reservation.
  • Reserve your workout time online from your center’s website or by contacting your center by phone.
  • Reservations are currently limited to 2 per week per patron, 1 per day.
  • Drop-ins are subject to availability.
  • View current amenities and availability on your center’s website through the “Reservations Portal”.
  • The day of your reservation, check in at the front desk.
  • Please be on time for your session and exit promptly when completed.

Fitness Areas

  • Come dressed in your exercise attire.
  • No access to locker rooms for changing or post-workout showers.
  • Staff will be cleaning, but patrons are encouraged to wipe down equipment before & after use.
  • Walking track use – one person per lane.

Indoor Pools

  • Come dressed in your swim attire.
  • No access to locker rooms for changing or post-workout showers.
  • Cleansing shower before entering pool still required.
  • Lap swimming – one swimmer per lane.

Ice Facilities

  • Come dressed in your skating gear.
  • No access to locker rooms for changing or post-workout showers.
  • One-hour ice sessions available.
  • 15-person limit per session.
  • Only one parent/guardian may enter facility with skater and sit in designated area.
  • Skater will be assigned a bench and area in the rink to place water bottle.

The county plans to announce more recreation center re-openings this week.
